In my work, I have developed a language of movement, action and emotion. I see the canvas as a space for my gestures – the simple, primitive colors, and sometimes obscured figurative forms – to open up a conversation with viewers. Abstract Expressionist and Action painting techniques, such as spontaneous improvisation, are strong influences in my work, but also my paintings are built up from layers of observed moments from life and my imagination.
