BFA 2015
oil and charcoal on drafting film on wood, 2015, 45"w x 85"
My work combines drawing and painting processes to compose paintings based on photographic references investigating memory, place, presence and the politics of seeing. Translating my cellphone shots into paintings on translucent and distressed surfaces, I aim to crystallize layered sensations of navigating the city and its transitory spaces, which complicate perceptions of time, place and identity in both physical and psychological ways.
