As a Canadian artist who has had the opportunity to travel widely in my country, I am always stimulated viscerally by the grandeur of the geography. This sets in motion a desire for me to recreate—by way of an impasto, color-saturated technique—the emotional impact, visually and mentally, of my surroundings. Vivid color has always been important in my style of painting. Using a strong palette and the impasto technique enable and motivate me to mentally interpret the emotional interaction and render concretely the subject at hand.
