Memory is a personal, abstract representation of life’s events. In the manner of a convex mirror, which concurrently reflects and warps, time abstracts images captured in memory. This idea is the starting point for my artistic process. Working from personal photographs taken during life experiences such as travels across North America, Europe and the Middle East, I distort sections of each image into spherical, convex forms. These represent “orbs” of memory through which abstractions are reflected and contained.
